REALTOR® Green Day

REALTOR® Green Day

Wednesday, June 14, 2023 (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Become competent in green features in buildings so you can effectively represent clients. Learn from 10 experts in building science, technology, renewable energy, and finance in two 3 CEU classes that build on skills learned last year but appropriate for all. Material is aimed at the real estate professional, instructors are Maine professionals, and the emphasis is on saving money - saving the planet is a bonus!

Venue: Oceanview Dining Hall at SMCC featuring sweeping Casco Bay views directly overlooking Williard Beach, round table seating, epicurean meals all at the same low price of $50 for the day, thanks to our sponsors Academy Mortgage, Black Point Title, hoMEworks, and Maine Laboratories. Breakfast and networking starts at 8:00 and lunch and networking is from 12:00 to 1:00.

Financing the Clean Energy Revolution: What Real Estate Professionals Need to Know (9AM-12PM)

Licensees will learn how customers and clients can find financial aid to complete weatherization projects to make their buildings less expensive to operate, to substitute expensive fossil fuel appliances with clean, efficient electric ones, and to use rooftop or community solar to make their buildings use net zero energy.  Financial aid is available in three forms: rebates or grants, tax deductions, and loans.  Low0income households can receive greater aid.  To be a fiduciary requires licensees to be knowledgeable about funding available to the public in Maine for building energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Making the Transition from Fires to Wires (1PM-4PM)

Licensees will learn how the transition from fossil fuels to efficient and renewable energy systems before global warming reaches level that scientists say will cause economic chaos is not only possible but has real and lasting benefits to our economies from households to entire regions.  To be a fiduciary requires licensees to be knowledgeable about efficient and renewable energy systems, how they work and how they compare to current fossil fuel appliances.
