As we all know, recent years in the housing market have not been favorable to first-time buyers, especially low and very low-income households who rely on 100% financing. Throughout the economic cycles, the USDA Rural Development (formerly Farmer’s Home Administration/FmHA) has delivered the 502 Direct Loan Program for nearly eighty years, making homeownership affordable and attainable for disadvantaged buyers. As a former employee of Rural Development and a Certified Loan Packager for this product, Chelsea hopes to encourage our local Realtors not to shy away from offers on listings or from engaging with buyer clients due to a lack of understanding or misconceptions of the program.
